Can’t remember where I saw this first but I just loved the series by Gary Lamb over at Revolution Church called Confessions of a Pastor (subscribe to the sermons at iTunes).

It wasn’t even what he was confessing, (nothing new to me Gary - which I’m sure was your point), it was his honesty and fire about being honest.

I’m from the UK and we don’t have many of the firebrand kind of preachers that they have in Southern US, but we have our own crosses to bear in terms of learned behaviour.  Being honest usually goes against any learned ways of doing things.

Something I will be exploring in later posts.

Well, it started so well this blog and then just stopped.

I like blogging about what I was blogging about. I like reviewing the online sermons and podcast sermons and Christ-orientated Web stuff.  As well as saying a few things about my own journey.

But what I am going to do is, I think, host this on my own site at some point.

I like WordPress.com but I just require a little more autonomy  over the backend systems and template.

Having said that I am blogging now and it is really easy. So maybe I’ll just carry on for the moment. It is nice and easy. And it will take time for me to set up WordPress on my own site. WP 2.5 looks especially interesting. So we’ll see.

I’ve been on the look out for Christian Blogs over the last month or two after the realisation that most of my reading was from techie/geek bloggers. Not that this is a bad thing, but it was only feeding one of the areas of my life. Other areas were not being fed in the same way on a weekly basis.

I figured if I could find out so much about geek/business and other life things online - why not Christian items of interest. News, events, insights, etc.

So I started looking around. Dan Wilt I had already been reading for a while - then I discovered Catalyst Space which has to be the most influential blog for me over the last month. In that it has led to so many other blogs.

I have been really impressed by the amount of churches and pastors that have been blogging (Perry Noble, Brian Colmery). As well as the amount of people gifted in other areas that have been blogging for the good of the Christian community (Kent Shaffer, Joe Sangl).

But one thing has joins most of the feeds in my Google Reader at the moment (other that the fact they are Christian) and that is they are all based in the States.

Where are the UK bloggers that are feeding the 5 million? I guess they must be out there. I just have to find them.

Really been enjoying online sermons and churchy things recently. So decided to start reviewing a few and publishing my thoughts (see last post on New Spring).

Usually I download the audio via iTunes but some churches have started video feeds as well - such a Cornerstone Simi Valley.

Quick review of the New Spring Vidcast that I just watched (I love online sermons and church services so I’m going to do a lot of these).

Worship

Really enjoyed this online church service from New Spring.  I was prepared for a sermon, but turned out to have the worship at the start as well. Really cool. Great to see a high quality worship service. Not sure how this works from a copyright perspective, but I loved it.

Sermon

The next thing up  was a passionate and practical sermon from Joe Sangl, the Pastor of Financial Planning at New Spring.  They have  Finance Pastor? Yes! Isn’t that groovy? Isn’t that what is needed?

Joe was talking about “how are you doing with what God’s given you?” i.e. Money. Money, money, money. Why? BECAUSE PEOPLE NEED HELP WITH MONEY. The amount of debt out there is incredible.

Joe’s passion was just amazing. His fire to set people free, refreshing, He has passion to get people out of debt. I mean, what a calling!  Not that it’s that new a call: setting people free.

Great sermon. Be nice to have a feed for the video. But the audio will do.

Oh and Joe has a book and Blog.

Conclusions

Well, if I lived in the area I’d go to this church. Great presentation and nice camera work. I’ll probably keep my eyes open for future vidcasts as well. Though the length might mean that I just download the audio most of the time.

Here I am again. Thought I’d go WP for a while and realised that I already had a  wordpress.com blog.  Free ‘n’ all.

Actually, I’ve been looking around for good Christian Bloggers. Found a few and have been following them and their thoughts. But I saw Perry Noble’s blog today and really liked the style of the blog layout. As well as the blog. The template is Hemmingway by Warpspire. Also available as one of the OOTB templates on WordPress.com. Whoo-hoo. So I’m taking it for a spin…
